This new 120-foot, 47,000 lb steel pedestrian bridge is focused on improving the safety of pedestrians by creating a more inviting and safer access. The plans include a dedicated bike lane and wider sidewalks. Once completed, this will mark the end of a $4 million project to enhance the intersection of El Camino Real and Cannon Road in Carlsbad.

Saf-T-Co’s biggest contribution for this project includes the PVC coated GRC offset bends that were custom fabricated on each end of the bridge to bend around the abutment wall as well as drop down vertically into the ground. Saf-T-Co also supplied the wire, ground rods, and other conduit.

Fun Fact: The bridge itself was built in South Carolina and shipped to Carlsbad in April 2022.
